IT’S
ALL CHANGING HERE – THIS IS WHAT I KNOW
Some of you may have heard that the Wiltshire Constabulary
is committed to changing to Neighbourhood Policing. Basically the
county is being broken down into beat areas and Neighbourhood Police
Teams are being set up. The Tisbury and Mere Police Section is
being split into two beat areas (as opposed to the current six).
Tisbury
TISBURY, WEST TISBURY, WARDOUR, HATCH, EAST & WEST
HATCH, NEWTOWN, BERWICK ST. LEONARD, CHICKSGROVE, CHICKLADE, CHILMARK,
FONTHILL BISHOP, FONTHILL GIFFORD, FOVANT, HINDON, RIDGE, SUTTON
MANDEVILLE, SWALLOWCLIFFE, ALVEDISTON, BERWICK ST.JOHN, CHARLTON,
THE COOMBES, THE DONHEADS, LUDWELL & TOLLARD ROYAL
Mere
MERE,
BURTON, EAST KNOYLE, WEST KNOYLE, SEMLEY, SEDGEHILL, WILLOUGHBY
HEDGE, GASPER, KILMINGTON, MAIDEN BRADLEY, NORTON FERRIS, STOURTON,
WOLVERTON & ZEALS.
Each beat area will have a Beat Manager
who will be a Police Constable. He will be dedicated to dealing
with local community issues and will not be abstracted elsewhere.
He will be supported by a PCSO (Police Community Support Officer)
who will be specially trained for the job.
There will be a response
team based somewhere to deal with emergency calls, road traffic
accidents and crime etc so don’t worry you haven’t
been deserted. Precise details have yet to be announced.
