DRINK DRIVERS - A MENACE.

You may have noticed on this bulletin recently the arrests of several drink-drivers. A number of these arrests were as a direct result of following up information received from you. However there are still people out there who are regularly driving having knowingly drunk too much alcohol. If you know of someone who does this and you have not yet told us please consider the following:

• You are much more likely to have an accident if you have been drinking.
  
• Every year up to 3,500 people are killed or seriously injured because of drink-drivers.
  
• Drink drivers travel on the same roads as you and I do.
  
• They use the same roads as your son, your daughter, your mother, and your father. They travel the same roads that horse riders use. They drive along the same roads that children cycle along.

For those of you wishing to purchase any of the above items they are now all available at Maiden Bradley Village Shop. For those of you still waiting for me to get round to you please bear with me I do have a list but finding the time or finding people in at the appropriate time is not straightforward.
I know some of you have been waiting for a while please be patient I will get there.

COLD CALLERS - WE NEED TO KNOW.

There are still groups of people travelling around this area trying to con people. Bogus callers have struck recently near our area so lets be ready for them if they meander onto our patch. These people will call at your house and either distract you whilst their mate nips through your back door or will try and get in themselves. They will say they are from the gas board, water board, electricity board, need a pee, have lost their dog, need to use your phone, want to cut your hedge, need directions, anything that may give them an opportunity to get into your house to steal your belongings. Genuine callers have proper identification.

DO NOT LET ANYONE INTO YOUR HOUSE UNLESS YOU KNOW WHO THEY ARE.

TISBURY & MERE SECTION - JULY 2002

ALVEDISTON - 1st Reported indecent assault on 20 year old female. (WPC Lucy Deakin)
CHILMARK - Between 22nd and 24th Thieves broke into a house and stole property. (PC Mark Steele)
DONHEAD ST ANDREW - Man threw a cup of tea over his wife during argument. (PC Paul Wilson)
DONHEAD ST MARY - Person used stones and wooden pole to smash 8 house windows. (PC Paul Wilson) 9th Youth assaulted by barman at Sports and Social Club. Dealt with. (PC Graham Briant)
EAST KNOYLE - 25th Male arrested for drink driving. 4 times the legal limit! (PC jerry Wilkins)
GASPER - Prior to 2nd Offenders damaged deer stalking chairs on Stourhead Estate. (PC Dave Mills) 19th Thieves broke into two vehicles overnight but stole nothing. (PC Dave Mills)
MAIDEN BRADLEY - Between 25th and 26th Thieves entered part renovated house and stole most of a fitted kitchen. (PC Dave Mills)
MERE - 6th Following fight in White Road two males were arrested and dealt with for assault and criminal damage. (PC Pete Robins) 6th Car broken into overnight in Clements Lane, sunglasses stolen. Second car also damaged. (PC Pete Robins) 2nd Yobs smashed part of a wall in Salisbury Street Car Park. (PC Graham Briant) 16th Following an altercation at the recreation ground six people were arrested and charged with public order offences. (PC Pete Robins) 16th Black iron gate stolen from side of house in Whitemarsh. (PC Pete Robins) 21st Someone set fire to some wood in the rear yard of The Old Ship. Luckily it was found and put out. (PC Pete Robins) 24th Thieves broke into council yard and stole over 2000 litres of diesel from the pumps. (PC Dave Mills) 24th Car broken into speakers stolen. (PC Graham Briant)
SEDGEHILL - 22nd Male arrested following a domestic related assault. (PC Dave Mills) 27th Burglar broke into bungalow during the day and stole cash and jewellery. (PC Jerry Wilkins)
SEMLEY - 2nd Female assaulted by husband during domestic argument. (PC Mark Littlewood) 21st Male dumped car at Scrapyard but when asked for the fee became abusive and violent threatening owner with a table leg. (PC Jerry Wilkins)
STOURTON - 1st Video camera and other property stolen from unlocked car. (PC Dave Mills) Between 5th and 17th 1000 gallons of red diesel was stolen from tank in farmyard. (PC Dave Mills) 26th Three females having a picnic at Gasper Lake were approached by a male who ran off with one of their handbags. He was young, tall and thin with shoulder length thick dark wavy hair. Ring any bells? (PC Dave Mills)
SUTTON MANDEVILLE - 3rd Burglars broke into secure yard and then broke into several offices stealing property from within. (PC Mark Steele) 24th Thieves broke into office and stole a drill and two mobile phones. (PC Mark Steele)
TEFFONT - 1st Whilst moving house bag of jewellery went missing believed stolen. (PC Mark Steele)
TISBURY - Between April and August female used false details to obtain property from mail order catalogue. (WPC Lucy Deakin). 2nd Female arrested for drink driving. Over twice the legal limit. (PC Dave Mills) 21st Male arrested for breaching his prison licence. Returned to prison. (PC Mark Littlewood) Between the 17th and the 23rd someone stole 'Beware of the Bull' sign from field. (PC Mark Littlewood)
WILLOUGHBY HEDGE - 29th Two youths drove onto forecourt, put petrol in car and drove without paying. (PC Jerry Wilkins)
ZEALS - 2nd Man entered insecure bungalow at night and asked the occupant for money, when refused he ran off. (PC Dave Mills) 20th Car broken into overnight CDs stolen. (PC Graham Briant) 20th Thief entered unlocked car in unlocked garage and stole a mobile phone. (PC Dave Mills)
